SIMPLE & QUICKStacey Abrams is a one-women redemption of Southern Democratic politics, and quite possibly too the for DNC

Stacey Abrams is taking command of Democratic politics. The gubernatorial-hopeful may not have seen her lifework and accomplishments seize the Peach State’s governor’s mansion, but she just may find it earns her a ticket to the White House. In fact, her curriculum vitae may be just what Democrats need.

The Wisconsinite-born Abrams was raised in Gulfport, Mississippi and came of age in Atlanta, Georgia. Stacey Abrams started her political career as a State Assembly member in the Georgia House. In her post, she served on multiple committees and was later chosen to lead as the House Minority Leader. As Leader, she worked with her Republican counterparts to maintain Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship for first-time college students. Stacey voted “NO” on campus carry for Georgia and “NO” on mandatory drug tests for State aid recipients. Stacy is also endorsed by the Bernie Sanders “Our Revolution” campaign.

When Abrams ran for the governor’s mansion, her platform focused on healthcare, education reform, criminal justice reform and reversing voter suppression. Although Stacey ultimately lost the election by some 50,000 votes, the running narrative of the forever tarnished 2018 gubernatorial election outcome is that her then opponent and State of Georgia Attorney General (and the person with oversight of Georgia’s voter rolls), Brian Kemp, stole the election.

Albeit a devastating loss, Abrams announced the inception of Fair Fight Action. Fair Fight is a voter access campaign that takes the fight of ensuring and expanding voter access beyond Georgia and into the politics of other suspected voter-suppressing states. Stacey was chosen by the DNC to give the Democratic response to the 2019 State of the Union Address. Given her accomplishments and party-wide likability, it is no wonder Abrams is consistent favorite for the VP slot on the Joe Biden campaign.

Yes, Abrams is young, female, a person of color, and progressive; however, she also has cross-party legislative success. Even with deep South ruby red Republicans. Regardless, her message remains consistent with core Democratic voter values. Abrams’ voice also resonates a steady sense of reason and gravitas not unlike a former Democratic President.

Perhaps her holistic policy ideas, systematic and strategy-centered modus operandi, combined with Abrams’ visual representation of the DNC’s most ardent and loyal voters will prove her to be the exact answer to both the political and emotional needs of a shell-shocked Democratic party.
