SIMPLE & QUICK: What does it mean when all of the best people stab you in the back?

Drain the swamp! Upon electing Donald John Trump the 45th President of the United States of America, the People were promised “only the best people” to run the Commander in Chief’s extensive administration. It is Summer 2020 and the President’s four-year term in the Oval Office is winding down. Americans are left wondering, who exactly are Trump’s best people? Or more so, who were they?

The three-and-a-half-year timeline of this President’s best people is curious. It is normal and understandable for there to be some turn-over within a Presidential term. Cabinet posts and Senior advisory roles are encumbering. The positions require an introvert’s erudition, yet demand an extrovert’s sustained networking capability. Exhausting. However, in less than one term, this president has had two Secretaries of State, two Secretaries of Defense, four Chiefs of Staff, and two NSAs. What is the deal?

Rex Tillerson, the former Exxon CEO and Putin pal, was picked first by the President to be Secretary of State. Upon Rex’s nomination, Trump said, “His tenacity, broad experience and deep understanding of geopolitics make him an excellent choice for Secretary of State. He will promote regional stability and focus on the core national security interests of the United States.”

Rex spent one year and one month in his tenure as America’s top diplomat. Tillerson is remembered for purposely debilitating American diplomatic strength, reversing policy gains made in mitigating the effects of climate change for both home and abroad, and for being fired unceremoniously via tweet after allegedly calling President Donald Trump a “fucking moron.”

Trump immediately replaced Sec. Tillerson with his then-CIA Director, Mike Pompeo, who remains in the post today. Pompeo has survived a lot of controversy. But he may not be best people for much longer since another one of the President’s best people is reporting in his new book that Sec. Mike Pompeo thinks President Donald Trump is “full of shit.”

Four Star General James “Mad Dog” Mattis was herald by the President as the perfect man for Defense Secretary. The President surmised that with a name like “Mad Dog” leading the DefSec post, the Commander in Chief would certainly gain a powerful presence and assumed respect by the U.S. Military. Instead, the two clashed unconditionally, which lead to impasse. The General resigned his post at year two. Recently, Mattis penned a damning op-ed in which he claims the president is a divider who abuses power.

Contention with the best people is not limited to those in his Cabinet. The President’s top aids also share this curious experience. The President’s second Chief of Staff said for him the role was “the least enjoyable job I have ever had.” And recently, General Kelly lambasted the President’s responses to Covid-19 and social unrest, stating, “We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership.”

General Micheal Flynn did not even get a chance to act as Donald Trump’s first National Security Advisor because within his first month, and still to this day, he was swept-up as a target in a counter-intelligence investigation. Trump’s second NSA, General H.R. McMaster, likens President Donald Trump to an “idiot” and “dope” with the “intelligence of a kindergartener.”

His most recent NSA, archconservative John Bolton, released his anticipated book today, and within the pages, among many other things, he accuses Donald Trump of obstruction of justice and colluding with a foreign government to win the 2020 election. In his latest interview, Bolton calls President Donald Trump a liar and fears a second term of MAGA would be unrecoverable for the United States of America.

The trend is no different across the spectrum of the President’s administration. Of course, there are loyalists such as Kelly Ann Conway, the Assistant to the President and Senior Counselor, and, for a time, the multi-titled OMB Director, Mick Mulvaney. Both of whom remain loyal in their posts and rhetoric to The Donald. But then again, someone close to the President is Anonymous.

If these truly are all the best people, they seem to all be saying the same thing about the impeached 45th President of the United States. And of course, there is also what the actions of these best people are further showing Americans.
